TITLE: Greenhouse Assistant              

LOCATION: Redmond, WA

HOURS: 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday (7:00am-3:30pm) with possibility of weekends and holidays

START DATE: ASAP

A commercial greenhouse operation seeks a professional individual to join our small production team.  This is an opportunity to work on a unique and rapidly growing project in developing downtown Seattle with a diverse collection of unusual tropical and hardy plants. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, passion for horticulture, keen eye for detail, show willingness to learn and have a strong work ethic focused on the success of the team and our project. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

·         Perform daily tasks, occasionally under minimal supervision and be able to work independently as well as in groups

·         Ability to work well with fast paced and stressful scenarios

·         Power washing floors, sweeping and emptying compost and trash

·         Assist in repairing and maintaining greenhouse structure/mechanisms as needed

·         Weed inside and around growing facilities

·         Keep plant pots free of weeds

·         Pick up supplies from local sources (Must have valid driver’s license)

·         Operate tractor/forklift and other equipment to unload/load trucks and move materials

·         Maintain a clean, organized and safe facility

·         Hand watering of the collection

·         Plant grooming, pruning, spacing for optimal growth

·         Mixing/preparing soils, fertilizer and washing pots

·         Demonstrate knowledge and use of Integrated Pest Management

·         Availability to work weekends and holidays

·         Preform pesticide applications

·         Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

·         Must demonstrate accountability, proactive behavior and strong attention to detail

·         Some hands-on experience working in a greenhouse or nursery setting.

·         Interest in Botany or Horticulture fields preferred

·         Must be able to withstand harsh conditions: Hot and humid greenhouse, rain and wind

·         Able to lift 50lbs, stand, kneel, reach, stoop, bend, twist for long periods of time

·         Good communication and organizational skills

Experience Requirement: 1-2 years

Education Requirement: High School / GED

Compensation

RATE: $15-$20/hour D.O.E.
