Watermark Gardens designs unique and beautiful gardens, provides high quality installations and year-round horticulture maintenance, while building lasting client relationships. We are currently hiring a Maintenance Manager for our Maintenance Division.  The ideal candidate has a passion for plants and working outdoors, as well as exceptional communication skills, a great work ethic and a team focus.

Job Requirements
• Completion of a Horticulture Diploma program from a recognized post-secondary institution, with a minimum of three years related experience
• Current and industry standard certifications
• Hold a valid driver’s license for at least 5 years, hold a clean driver’s abstract and have the ability to safely operate a large truck
• Computer literate and able to use industry standard software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to facilitate and lead meetings
• Familiar with project management and continuous improvement methodologies
• Basic first-aid would be an asset
• Previous experience in customer support and marketing to increase revenues would be an asset

Job Responsibilities
• Pruning small trees, shrubs and hedge material; using both hand and power tools
• Weeding, dead heading, planting of annuals, perennials and bulbs
• Small installations and plant layout of gardens
• Maintain health of perennials, shrubs and trees using proper IPM practices
• Total lawn maintenance using both hand and power tools, fertilizers and cultural practices
• Maintenance of outdoor power equipment for efficiency and endurance
• Repair irrigation and outdoor lighting systems
• Recruiting and hiring new employees, employee conflict resolution, seasonal reviews and creating incentives to retain shining employees
• Supervise 2-3 Maintenance Crews, creating a worksite environment that promotes safety, productivity, individual contributions, and team success
• Mentor and coach Maintenance Supervisors and Gardeners as needed to ensure cohesive and high performing teams
• Submit coded invoices, receipts, timesheets and paperwork for the Maintenance Division in a professional well-organized manner
• Create estimates for new and existing clients
• Design for new and existing clients including annual, bulbs, garden renovations and seasonal containers
• Increase sales for Watermark Gardens by consulting with new clients, suggesting enhancements for existing clients and promoting the company in general
• Increase sales through event planning, promotions and partnerships
• Support the Construction Division by acquiring plants and materials, accepting and approving plant deliveries and completing difficult plant lists
• Perform site visits and reports to ensure maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively, sites are left clean, time sensitive horticultural tasks are completed correctly and provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor
• Point of contact for clients and Construction Division Manager and Supervisors
• Other duties as assigned to support the creation of exceptional gardens and amazing landscapes
