A leading manufacturer in the global horticultural industry has opened up a newly created role of Territory Sales Manager Midwest. The company offers a highly respected brand of products which bring solutions to a variety of grower needs, continuous R&D of new applications, leadership stability and a highly collegial global culture.

The Territory Sales Manager Midwest will be responsible for maintaining relationships with key strategic accounts and the respective buyers with a focus on delivering the highest possible service, sales and profitability. In order to maintain these key relationships the Territory Sales Manager visits their clients on a regular basis, takes stock of client needs and possibilities in relation to the sale of all the companies’ products. In approaching clients, the emphasis is on building lasting relationships, strategic focus/planning and be a resource and partner to the assigned account(s). The Territory Sales Manager must exhibit a consultative sales approach to earn the mutual respect and trust of their assigned key account(s) acting as a resource and sounding board.

A collegial and autonomous culture extends throughout the entire organization as the Territory Sales Manager will work in conjunction with all other regional Territory Managers to determine the best manner in which to service, support and/or drive sales at the regional level. The Territory Sales Manager will also work in close partnership with all production locations, Marketing, and Supply Chain to ensure products are produced and distributed on time per the schedules.

The Territory Sales Manager may be asked to work on broader issues as needed and to assist others in the organization. The Territory Sales Manager reports directly the Director of Sales and will be located in the Midwest (either ND, MN, WI, IA MO KS, NE) working from a home based /virtual office setting in any of the states listed.

Responsible for the day-to-day management of Key Account(s);

Works according to the objectives and sales targets as per the sales plan/quota;

Research and communicate resources needed to increase sales and profit within area of responsibility;

Takes note of client needs, has in-depth knowledge of the key account’s strategies and plans for the future(emphasis from a 1, 3, 5 years perspective) clearly understanding the sales possibilities and expected impact for the company;

Develops a deep understanding and product knowledge about the entire product range. Expertly provides the client with information about the entire product range acting as a resource to match products to client’s needs;

Develops annual business plan for Key Account(s) – account objectives, supporting strategies and account profile models;

Acts as the liaison and key point of contact between customer and corporate office;

Assists in the facilitation of agreements. Ensures that agreements made are kept for the client and communicates with Management in the event of any deviations;

Acts as a liaison with product Development team to propose and discuss new product ideas as requested by the Key Account(s);

Closely tracks market trends and developments among the competition;

Develops pricing strategies, programs and quotations in collaboration with Sales Management;

Provides the client with information concerning payment and delivery terms;

Visits and participates in tradeshows and product knowledge seminars;

Consults on a regular basis with the Director of Sales on the state of affairs in his/her accounts;

And if you have these qualifications:

GENERAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE LEVEL

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. Horticultural or Agricultural Degree a plus

A minimum of 5 -7 years of experience in sales or account management, preferably in a large enterprise environment.

Expertise and experience in project management, strategic planning, sales development, forecasting and expense control a plus

Intermediate to advanced computer skills REQUIRED

FIELD-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of specific characteristics and culture within horticulture, lawn & garden industry.

Sales experience with substrates, growing media and or soil additives is REQUIRED.

Knowledge or specific experience working with large grower accounts or distributors

Knowledge of and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
